On Saturday 10th October the drill team from 261 endured an early 0700 start at the Spectrum in order to travel the two hours to Folkstone for the annual London and South East Region drill competition.

Continuing from the second place at Wing good things were expected from the team and after weeks of practice and preparation everything was ready for the 1030 time on the drill square. Unfortunately the competition was already running late so a few nervous minutes were spent waiting around.

The sequence went without any major mistakes and the watching staff from other squadrons and wings were impressed by Guildford's performance. 

After 7mins and 45 seconds it was all over and the next few hours were spent waiting for the results. These eventually came at the end of the final parade "and the winners of the drill are.....261 Sqn, Middlesex wing"! A few nervous moments while everyone waited to see if the mistake had been made with the wing or the squadron but eventually the officer announcing the results was corrected - 261 Sqn SURREY WING!!! Cheers all round, 261 are off to corps in November...
